|Tucked away 14 km away from Digha (a popular crowded resort in the east Midnapur district of West Bengal which has no beach as it has been ruined by erosion) is a beach - serene, unspoilt, accessible and totally worth a visit - Shankarpur.|
Shankarpur is a natural fishing harbor. It was being developed as a beach resort. Fortunately it has been stopped so that it can remain unspoilt. With wide virgin beaches dotted with casuarina plantations, this beach is as close as you can get to having your own private beach.
However, there used to be an area behind the town which used to get inundated during high tide. That area is now reclaimed to create a prawn breeding farm. Now the tide has no inlet and the beahes are getting slowly eroded. Who knows how much time this quiet and peaceful place has before it is destroyed.
As she stood looking at the sea almost immediately on our arrival I took this.
Virtually no pp except cropping and desaturation. Straightened the horizon just a bit.

Great use of light & shadow.
Beautiful compo, love the shadows, the Sabita (?)'s silhouette, the long trees ...
Nice shot, Salil !
This is a very good shot.
The B&W fits to it.
Intruiging desolate image! Well spotted,

Nice simple composition, I like the vertical group emphasising the height of the trees
Balance, peace and calm when you see this image.
