I hate to use the word "bokeh" as I think it sounds pretentious, but you've nailed that aspect in this shot. The main group of people is in good focus and attention isn;t drawn immediately to the background. However, there is enough detail there for it to add a great deal of interest and context. Not sure I've explained that well, but hope you get what I mean.
There is a reall sense of a hot, dusty and bustling Manila street in this shot - you have caught the feel of the place very nicely.
A bit of dodgy pp work around the boys legs, it seems? But that aside everything else works well. Nice street shot, Rew.
You brought the subjects out well, especially with the bokeh BG. This is how I remember Manila, already busy at this hour. Good that you caught the jeepney (correct me if I'm wrong) in the background! Its a part of Manila.
Thanks for sharing.

Good shot of daily life. It's happened everywhere
in this worlds. Now we can see the schoolkids wearing difference uniform from others.I like the way highlight the subject. Good compositions.
Geoffrey Bin Ramji
this kind of shot i envy, very natural. lucky you, none of them smile or worst gave you the PEACE sign. a vey good capture of daily life with the right mood.
agree with kilted-arab on the legs + the bracket on the upper right hand could have been crop or clone-erase perhaps, minor hiccups but IMO this is very good.
Deep picture i think, at least in two ways : the group of young school people looking forward with hope of a bus and a better future is in contrast with dull town -and its nice you drove them out of the deep shadow they were hidden in - and, obviously, they are surrounded with portraits of the destiny the town promises to them : elder woman and men, already at work, with their (night, children)dreams forgotten in the early day activities. All of it on the diagonal of the road our eyes follow. Thanks for revealing it through your talentuous snapshot (and sorry for such a poor english).

Nicely done here Rew, well composed scene. Lighting is good and I like the compression of perspective here.
What can I tell to such a great photographer like you? I go to your gallery very often and enjoy looking at many of your photos. You are very good in capturing feelings. It is good you added light to the shadow part with the kids, and still we can see the contrast with the light on the the middle and back part of this cultural scene. TFS

Hi Rew, This is a fine composition showing everyday life on the streetscape of Manila. The group waiting and the bus beyond provides superb balance. Well presented. TFS. Murray.

Good morning Rew
Superb shot here, lots of colour, early morning hustle and bustle with excellent DOF on the main subject. Your PP work with the lighting really makes them stand out and gives a well balanced feel to the shot. Lovely posting.
TFS regards Helen

how are you?
a very intersting street shot of the city, i have all the morning kios available here. i wonder how brilliantly these people in the foregraound stand out of the shot. very nively defocused bg but an interesting one. the provided space to the truck/bus has defined well. alltogether this is an intersting composition.
thanks for sharing

Nice reportage photo indeed. It tells a story. I like the three dimensional effect of your PP work. It also has a great atmosphere due to the contrast of moving and still elements. Very nice to see some people passing by, some looking for the bus, the girl doing a phonecall?! - and the boy in the middle - as the one and only - who just descovers beeing photographed by you. Perfect sharpness and POV. Great work.

Wow this really takes me back there, a great capture. I agree with Kilted, the background is great, still interesting but the focus on the group of people is perfect. I love those school uniforms! Very nice lighting. TFS and have a happy day!

i think the image here is self-explanatory of a busy morning as you briefly put in your note, Rew.
none of the subject here is an alien to the mood.
i like the placement of the core subject - the schoolkids (look like they are siblings).
again, you perfectly summed it up in your note in a lovely style!
Hello Rew. Excellent daily life featuring the kids of Philippines doing their morning routine. The placement in the frame and the focus are very good. A slightly blurry but visible backdrop adds impact to the image. You did well with the PP to bring out the light on the subject under the shade. Top drawer image and well done. Jusni
I like the focus on the group of people. The soft blurred BG really allows for the subject to stand out. I like how the BG shows activity but does not take my interest from the people. A nice street scene.

I really like this daily life scene and you have captured the morning rush very well here for a bustling scene. All the wires and obstructions in blur as the backdrop giving a nice indication of how 'Asian' as it can be.
On your latest series of candid and street shots, it begins to pull you away from what we have known you as portrait and studio style. I like the new addition, Rew but that is just my personal opinion. tfs

wow welcome to the real world for everyday traffic life, hehehehe!
like the dof very much ;-)
This is a nice photo of people. I would like to share a workshop of this photo. Hope u don't mind.
Interesting catch, i donnow if i should pay more attention to the unfocused vehicle or to the group of students... Is that a good thing? Was it your goal? Did u notice this could happen? Is it important at all?
As i consider myself a rookie comparing to you, i am so open minded to your answers.
Also, do you consider important the darker line in the edge of the student leg? I think it is unnatural and should be fixed.
I like the shot..but when you go through the outlines(edges) of uniforms you can see a dark line. That's a sign of PP work...so when somebody sees this he knows that you have done some PP work. Be careful with edges. Did you use a softening filter?
