Border Collies are the most used working sheepdogs in the world. Besides their intelligence and capacity to understand orders (by voice or whistle), they have a strong eye, staring at sheep to nearly hypnotise them. A well trained dog does the work of three man when it comes to gather sheep and direct the flock. Biting is strictly forbidden... just running, stopping, approaching, staring, containing, and so on up to the objective.
Regularly, shepherds, farmers, or simply passionate amateurs compete in trials where their ability and precision in herding is evaluated. Most of these trials are organized in UK (Scotland), origin of this breed fixed at the beginning of the 20th century. Also in Ireland, Netherlands (last European championship), etc...
I took this shot during one of the trials organized in France, where B.C's are also very popular amongst cattle breeders. This trial took place in the "Bergerie Nationale du Ch穰eau de Rambouillet".
----------
Sepia was used to recall some old prints of famous past trials, and to give more evidence to the protagonists by reducing the important grass volume. Dog and sheep color didn't change by using this option.
I used the Sony/Zeiss 1,7 teleconverter.

A very lovely shot!
Sepia and framing are brilliant!
You have washed out areas on the sheep heads, though...
Everything else is just lovely.
And thank you Peers for the helpful note.

Lovely shot, sepia works well. I also like the framing you choosed.Good notes! Thanks!

Nice photo. Sepia works well. Well done Jean.

Lovely shot, sepia works well. Excellent note too. Bravo Jean Michel.

Just excellent, JM. I like the repetition in the sheep poses. Sepia is a very good coice here and the brightness/contrast are excellent. And of carse. composition and framing. Very well done.

Tr鑚 belle r饌lisation Jean-Michel. Photo prise sur le vif. La composition est r騏ssie. Le choix du Noir et Blanc (s駱ia) convient parfaitement la prise de vue.
Tr鑚 bien vu Jean-Michel.

Nice one Jean, I like the sepia filter, it does give an aged look to the photo, which works well here. I also like you framing technique, all in all, very nicely captured and presented. I enjoyed your note!
Well done.
