Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), was named after the French "dent de lion", meaning lion窶冱 tooth, which refers to its toothed leaves. Other names for dandelion include wet-the-bed and pissy-beds, which refer to its effectiveness as a diuretic.

Often seen as just a weed to be eradicated in our gardens the humble dandelion is also a widespread food source for a whole host of creatures including bees that visit the flowers and of course the birds and rodents that eat the seeds.

These little Harvest Mice love the seeds and will happily climb the stalks to get to the seed heads.
