Taken January 1/08 at Comox Harbour, BC during the heaviest snowfall of the winter (18"/45 cm). The specks of white on the image are snowflakes, and too numerous to clone out.

PP in PhotoFiltre: resized to 800 pixel maximum dimension, 300 pixels/inch resolution; sharpened; adjusted contrast and gamma; framed; resized and maximized for web

Looking at this image again, I realized that I had broken one of my cardinal rules - level horizons. Have done a W/S to correct the problem and to make a few other adjustments.

hello Peter,
I love harbours and the B/W effect here of a very snowy day is magic! The big heavvy snowflakes actually add to the image. Wonderful compo and tones, and of course, well framed as per your usual high standards.
TFS, Joni

Hi Peter; you've captured the snowy day very well here - I can just feel the cold! Being from the prairies, this is a very common site ... ... not the harbour part of course, but the snow part! I agree, the visible snowflakes really add to the shot.

Nice B&W photograph!
The snowflakes are wonderfull to it.
Well done!

Hello Peter.
Wonderful winter composition. Almost natural b&w, just splashes of colour here and somewhere.
Superb sharpness and details and nice reflections.

Well composed shot and a frame which adds to the picture. The snow flakes add to the wintery feel. The slight spots of colour that remain in the picture are a little distracting (having seen some I now just pick up on them when I look at the picture - is that just me?) and a pure b&w conversion might have been better.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Peter, what a cold scene this is. Super composition though, looking on the angle to the moored boats.
I do like it in B&W

nice compo, there is some parts of colour which give a clue, this is not a B&W !

Very well done, Peter !
I just love the way the boats are fixed on the three main tones: the white of snow, the dark grey of water, and the light grey of the sky.

hi peter,

excellent image, got a cold winters feel. snowflakes are a bonus. good pov of a pretty harbour. good details at the distance and good framing.

regards c.d.

A beautiful scene - great crisp capture of the snow falling. Border really pulls it together too!
Nice work!

Wow... the falling snow and the dark, cloudy background makes this feel like a really intimate picture... as if there is nothing else out there but what you see here...
Lovely capture.

Hello Peter!

Missed a lot of your shots since you are posting pretty late for me (^_^). Being a big lover of the Nautical and maritime world, I really appreciate this capture.

Since, you already did a Ws , I will applaud your prompt correction. The image ( WS ) is begging to be framed on a well as is.
Well done.
