...one gets to see some marvelous things, from time to time.

At the TL meet in Gent, Walterito and I talked about it, how sometimes there are beautiful patterns in the clouds, and even in Belgium one can see many stars, despite the light pollution we have here...

Anyway, as I took Dingo for a short evening walk I noticed this beautiful full moon. So I decided to get the tripod and go out again, camera at the ready. I amused myself with some moon shots, but then this cloud layer drew my attention and I decided to try and capture it.

Meanwhile, the moon had moved behind the tree and provided a nice backlight.

I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out, but as always I'm ready for your honest opinion ;o).

Tech talk

Converted from raw after applying -0.5 stop exposure compensation; I also changed the white balance from auto to cloudy to get slightly warmer colours.

Croppity-crop from bottom and left hand sides.

Downsized for TL: 1200 dpi, 3322 サ 700 pixels height, USM 85%, 0.5, 0, resolution 1200サ150 dpi.

I know about the bright spots... they're not stray pixels but... planets & stars ;o).

Very nicely done, Frank and I like this vertical elongated format giving a nice sense of looking up to the sky. Nice cloudscape and good colours in the sky. Well done!

A very dramatic sky beautifully captured. Loads of atmosphere in this one.

Nice moody picture! Interesting dof! Great colors! Tfs! Michel

Superb capture Frank. All the elements flow to make a wonderful composition.

Very intriguing shot, Frank! At first, I thought it was shot during the day and I couldn't explain the blurry clouds. There is a nice graphism in your image. Well done!

Nice photo with nice mood Frank. The composition and the POV are great. I like so much the moon hiding behind the tree. TFS.

Good to see all those puffy clouds Frank. I like the silhouetted trees in the foreground. Well done on this long exposure.

dag frank
altijd moeilijk om zoiets op foto te kunnen krijgen
mooie kleuren en compositie

Hi Frank,
Exceptionally dramatic sky, captured very well and the moody lighting is also commendable! Your POV is quite impressive and including the silhouettes in the fg was great!

wow, frank, this sky is amazing like a composition.

points tomorrow

A very good experiment Frank, you were lucky to get enough moonshine to reflect on the clouds so that you could get such a photo. I like the tree silhoueete too with the moon peeking out from behind. There is something about the composition I can't put my finger on, but it bothers, me...maybe the angles, not sure, just to me an slightly odd compo, but I don't know what would improve it.
Thanks for visiting my gallery and leaving your comments.
Cheers Joan

Hi Frank,

That's definitely something unique!! I've seen the moon so bright (Initially I thought it was the sun...) and the clouds in such a strange formation!!
Very well done on the composition!

I like this one Frank, it's a view not too often seen. It almost looks like a black and white but it gives slight color from the roof and trees. That is a roof isn't it?

Hello Frank,
Good POV on this picture, I really like the clouds and the tree as a sillhouette. Good composition.
