I have been trying to learn about lighting..I usually work with natural light. The light source was froma flashlight. I kept getting glare on the glass. Can anyone tell me if there is a filter that will take that out. I did use a UV filter.

I don't know what kind of filter would have got rid of the glare on the glass without getting rid of the glare on the "maters" and the lid but I don't see why you would want to. This shot is cool the way that it is. You couldn't improve this if you tried.

Hi Bren,
Nice lighting job and exposure. As far as the glare is concerned...hmmm...have you tried a polarizing filter? I know that filter can be used to cut through haze and reflections on windows...so, it may be something you want to look into. For digital cameras, I hear you need to pick up a circular polarizer and not a linear one, 'kay? But, if you can borrow from a buddy, do that first...why pay if you don't have to?
And, most importantly, welcome to TL!

This is a good photo idea. I like the way you used your lighting to show just a few edges of the jar. I don't thing the glare is bad here and the red is a good color to use for this.

If you want a softer light I would suggest covering the light with something to diffuse it like you would do with a flash. maybe a handkerchief or something like that to take some of the glare from your light.

awww Bren - this shot is great
the way everything fades to black just makes the jar look like its floating
and the way the curves of the tomatoes...
sorry - 'maters - ;-)
...reflect the point source light of the flashlight is really cool
much more artistic than the jar i posted today
have a good one...

I like the darkness from the lighting set up used. Flashlights come in handy don't they. I've used one many times for photos. My only suggestion for the glare on glass, and also water, is to buy a circular polarizer. It will eliminate most, if not all, of the glare. I like the use of the tomatoes in the jar as it is a very interesting subject to shoot.
Well done.
