I love Bianca even if it's only a tiny bit of her! Well done Rew! You have guts and it pays! Thanks!
sorry no more monopoly money! :-)
hi Rew, I like it
Your cameras eye is lower than her eyes (exactly at her shoulders heigth), therefore there are three possibilities: she is much taller than you or you were crouching or you used a tripod.
I guess you wanted a low POV to get more sand, so it must be 2nd or 3rd one...
The sea skyline shows exactly the heigth of our eye (or camera); when her eyes are over the skyline it means your eye was lower.
You wanted a centered position (in the x axis) of her and I think it is appropriate, placing her in the right or left wouldnｴt improve the shot; but in the y axis you are using the rule of thirds and here it works fine as the different texture plans are horizontal (shoreline, waves and skyline).
The scale of her shape is small and that makes the shot more interesting, more intriguing.

For some reasons, this black dress look like the old swimming suits of the 40s and 50s ( remembering actually the photos of my parents of this era ). So I find a very retro look in this serie of Bianca.
The composition as well since the old camera were often offering a wide view (^_^).

Fabulous use of a wide angle for this genre of photography Rew - the whole composition is quite striking, especially with the use of the grad to darken off the sky a little.. Even f7.1 gives adequate DOF at 18mm..
It's a grey a sky as this arvo in Melbourne - dull day but will try to get a few 'blue hour' shots later!!

Love the compo and the perspective !
I know very little about portrait photography but for me this would go unnoticed if it hadn't been by one of TL master portrait photographers.
I am not keen on the central position and the horizon at neck height but then again what do I know - the only portrait I have taken is of my wee dog - Hamish

Rew, yes it is artistic shot, because of the pov, and the perfect 1/3 rules composition.
Nice colors atmosphere, wet and ice weather here.
Bianca is a pretty woman look like a doll.

ncie portrait, a nice holiday reminder
i like the composition here rew, the centered approach really works well.
honestly though, i think there needs to be a bit of post processing to brighten up bianca atleast to the level where it would equal a non-grad filter level.
secondly: while the composition is very good, in order for such a photo to look best, it has to be printed real big; big enough to bring bianca to life-size. that doesn't mean the photo is not good enough at the moment, it is.. but in order to get the most out of this simple yet beautiful composition, it has to be seen in a large print to give the viewer the illusion as though he/she is there where you took the shot from :) now that would be engaging!
a good one :)

More than a critique, this is a comment from an amateur. I really like the portraits you make. Hope one day can make such amazing and distinguished pictures. Greetings.

this image guite graphic look and minimal.
the horizontal lines of wave give nice BG as well as black pattern of sand at FG leading to the model.
though not much Bianca in this image but suit for surrounding and compose i think :)
