A simple portrait of Martine converted in B&W,

Note the color version will be added as a Workshop. Here no make-up or set up. Just her natural look. indeed my lady is getting older. We know each other for nearly twenty years (^_^). This one was captured during our lunch break. We spent the morning out , and now we were in the shadow having a drink.

I like the closer portraits. Faces are story books. And I certainly love the developping story here. I hope you like it too (^_^).
Thanks for the visit. I will be coming back soon with the WS and comments.
Robert

Very good work, nice to see a straight and honest portrait every once in a while. The tonal range is pleasant and so is the composition. The tight crop works very well. On the negative side, it would have been great to have a narrower depth of field allowing the eyes, nose and lips to be in focus as well: it seems that your plane of focus bisects the cheeks and chin. Attractive catch lights would have emphasized the eyes more. Good eye contact and expression.

Excellent Portrait!

I love the natural look, she has wrinkles but all the right wrinkles, You can see smile lines. The very definition of growing old gracefully. So much more beautiful than the plastic look. She's gorgeous and how I would love to look in a few short years. Love the lighting and the softness it gives to the face and hair.

Hi Robert, if you want to know i am missing those lovey blue eyes of the color version , ha ha , she is one great lady , yours ! A love story going strong , having known my own for nearly twenty short years , when there is a solid connection from the start such wonderful relationship can last very long indeed ! Thanks for sharing this close-up of Martine and her natural features , beauty has no age Robert , her eyes are sharp as a tack , got to love her smile too ,your large black frame doing full justice by enhancing her within it , hummm don't let that one get away Robert ! I hope you had a great vacation in hot and humid Yucatan . Welcome back to Canada.
Cheers,
Carol

Bonjour Robert

Annie

Hi Robert,
Superb portrait with beautiful tones and contrast, I think the b&w works extremely well in shots of this nature. Nicely cropped in with outstanding focus on the eyes and great detail. Very well presented in a great frame. Best wishes
Bri

The way you've used light here is excellent, the light from the back ignites her hair and creates superb rim-light effects around the line of her face and jaw.

I'm really not keen on the titling in the frame though, to me it cheapens the shot.

Bonjour Robert

Greetings Robert,
Of the three images in your WS,I do prefer the coloured version. Most times my choice with portraits, would be the B&W version, but in this case, I like those eyes of bright blue & sparkling with life,I think to, your wife has a great sense of humour which comes through even more in the colour version.Really a vibrant portrait, but more so in the coloured version, IMHO :-)
TFS

Regards
Ron

Bom dia Robert
How are you.
Martine est ravissante. Elle a du bonheur sur la face .
Good portrait with good b/w tonalities. As you I love close ups and I love her face.
I must see your other photos. A great pleasure to have news from you both.
